| Air Shipment of Llewellin Setter Pups |
|
There are some things you will need to know if air shipment of your Lynnhill puppy is contemplated. You cannot switch a live animal between airlines. Therefore if there are no direct flights to your destination out of Erie or Pittsburgh you may have to go to the nearest airport with direct service to collect the pup. Animal shipment policies and prices have been under constant review since 9/11 and today are being quoted on a day by day basis due to the out of control fuel cost issue. Some airlines. US Airways for example, will no longer accept live animals for shipment. There are two ways to ship a pup. These are by Air Freight or by VIP Service, which is counter to counter. In normal weather, freight works fine. As of this writing, average costs are $220 by air freight and $350 by VIP. Additional costs are $46 for a veterinary certificate and $65 for a shipping crate. If delivered to Erie Airport (80 miles round trip) there is a $50 charge and to Pittsburgh (225 mile round trip);$100. These costs are for an 8 week old pup. Older dogs will have higher air fares based on weight ,and the larger shipping crates cost up to $125 for the largest size. These costs are subject to change without notice based on air fares and gasoline prices. May 2008
