Lynnhill Llewellin Puppies and Breeding

A truly great bird dog starts obviously with knowledgeable selective breeding, but it doesn't end there. What happens to the pup from the moment it is born until it matures at about two years of age is of equal importance. As a caring breeder we understand the vital importance of the early days. Well bred and well fed are essential requirements for the producing bitch. Sanitary and well ventilated housing for the offspring; exposure to sounds, music, people, cats, horses and other dogs and constant interaction with humans all help to produce confidence and good attitude and bring out the best in a pup. All of our pups are part of just such a program and from long experience we know it works. Training time is shorter and top performance comes earlier with pups started this way. When you buy from Lynnhill you get the added value of correct and careful nurturing.

Coloration of the Llewellin Setter

The genetics of coat coloration in Llewellin Setters is quite complicated and one cannot always predict the outcome of a particular breeding. An exception to this would be ORANGE bred to ORANGE produces ORANGE. In other cases, blue belton, orange belton and tri-colored dogs can and do present themselves often within a single litter. If you have a particular desire for coat color we suggest you inform us and we will do our best to meet your needs. At the end of the day you should remember what Richard Llewellin said: "A good bird dog is always the right color!"

Feeding the Llewellin Setter

The diet of breeding dogs, performance dogs and quality puppies is of extreme importance. As humans we have heard it said: "We are what we eat". At Lynnhill Llewellins we feed only Purina Pro Plan Puppy Food. This diet has produced a constantly well nourished animal and kept our working dogs at the top of their performance....
